Laboratory // Active System
Small experiments for reducing digital noise and rebuilding attention. Participants in the laboratory are called Operators. Run the test. Measure the output. Report the findings. This is not inspiration content — it's systems documentation.
These are not experiments. They are diagnostic moments. No protocol. No tracking. No commitment. Run one right now. Notice what shows up.
5 Minutes of Silence
Set a timer for 5 minutes. No phone. No screen. No audio. Sit with it. Notice what your mind reaches for, and when. You're not trying to relax. You're reading the baseline.
Duration: 5 min // Observation only10 Minutes, No Phone
Leave your phone in another room. Not silenced. Removed. Wait 10 minutes. Notice when the impulse to check it arrives. Notice what triggered it. That's the data.
Duration: 10 min // Observation onlyThe field diagnostics didn't exist when this protocol launched.
A social post. Ten minutes. Leave your phone in another room.
Operators reported back. The data changed what came next.
That's how this system works. Version 1.0 is what we started with.
What ships next is built from what you find.
This phase is diagnostic. You're not trying to fix anything yet. You're establishing a baseline. See what's already running before you change anything. EXP-01 is the starting point.
7-Day Detox Planner
Run the baseline protocol. Establish your attention baseline before introducing any new friction. This is the first run. Everything else is built on what you find here.
→Attention Audit
Map your 24-hour attention cycle and identify your leakage windows. Complete the Focus Heatmap honestly. Operators are consistently surprised by the 8pm window.
→The Expanse Hour
One full hour daily. No screen, no agenda, no objective. Walk, sit, observe. This is not rest and it's not productivity. It's the thing the whole system is working toward — practice it early.
→Grayscale 24
Set your phone to black and white for 24 continuous hours. Test the neural pull of color icons. This is a controlled variable test, not a lifestyle commitment.
→Introduce one friction technique at a time. By Day 14 you'll be running four concurrently. The sequence matters. Let each one settle before adding the next. Phase 01 is the prerequisite.
App Deletion
Delete all social apps from your home screen. Browser-only access if needed. The login friction breaks the impulse loop. Most impulse checks abort before login completes.
→The Analog Anchor
All notes and task-capture done on paper for one full week. No digital notes. Test whether analog slows the thought or deepens it. Operators are consistently surprised by the answer.
→20:00 Shutdown
All screens off at 20:00. Not reading, not watching, not checking. The shutdown is a structural boundary, not a reward. It protects next-day cognitive capacity.
→Notification Kill
All push notifications disabled. Email checked at 9am, 1pm, 5pm only. The first 72 hours produce phantom notification anxiety. This is the withdrawal curve. It drops.
→Stress-test the system. Run 3 experiments concurrently. Identify breaking points. This is the hardest phase. EXP-12 in particular. The first 72 hours will feel like something is missing. That feeling is the data. Write it down.
Phone Distance
Phone stored in a separate room during all work blocks. Not silenced. Removed entirely. A silent phone on the desk still pulls on your attention. Remove the variable entirely.
Screen Time Lock
Set hard daily screen time limits via OS parental controls. Treat yourself as the user being protected. The override prompt is the moment of awareness.
Analog Morning
Zero screen contact for the first 60 minutes of every day. Paper, pen, silence, and the ledger only. The morning is the highest-leverage window. Protect it.
Social Media Fast
All social platforms, off, for 7 days. Not reduced. Removed. This is the highest-impact experiment in the system. It works best after the earlier phases have given you something to return to.

Every Tuesday a new dispatch transmits from the field. Field data from active experiments, protocol updates, and one thing to run this week. No inspiration. Just systems.
No account. No algorithm. No noise.
